Online flight reservation is no longer a novel activity and these days it’s becoming the norm especially with the number of websites and apps offering the same services. In the past we’ve written about companies such as Indonesia Flight, Wego, and Tiket.com, and now Tiketdomestik.com has stepped forward as the next entrant.
As an online ticketing reservation service, Tiketdomestik provides real time booking for a number of local flights. Our own checks confirmed that the major domestic flight companies include Lion Air, Sriwijaya Air, Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Air Asia, Wing Air, Sky Aviation, and Batik Air
Tiketdomestik has two access methods, via mobile app and website. By launching the mobile application, Tiketdomestik expects to have strong sales from highly mobile travelers. Certainly the app was made to strengthen its competitiveness.
The interface for the mobile app unfortunately, is very limited and aesthetically bland, but it does the job. The users’ navigation is only directed to three menus, which are Booking, E-Tiket, and About. Perhaps due to the simplistic nature of the app, it performs flight searches quite fast.
Search results are sorted automatically based on categories, such as the ticket price, flight schedule, and flight number. Unfortunately, when I tried this feature, it took me a while to get the results, something that should be taken care of in future updates.
Tiketdomestik uses the standard payment method, which is by using payment services from banking institutions, such as KlikPay BCA, Mandiri ClickPay, and CIMB Clicks. For those who have yet to register for any of the above payment services, consumers can also make payments through bank transfers though this can be a little less pratical.
By focusing only on flight ticket reservation, Tiketdomestik is arguably a step behind its competitors which offers other services such as tour and hotel reservations. The closest competitor to Tiketdomestik at the moment might be the Indonesia Flight mobile application.
If Tiketdomestik intends to compete, it may be a good idea to expand its list of domestic routes and airlines and perhaps add those other services to put it on level playing field with its competitors.
