As a part of Echelon 2012 program to select the best 50 startups in Asia, the Jakarta satellite event had held on Saturday, April 7, 2012. Located in the Multimedia Tower, Telkom Kebon Sirih, Jakarta, the event featured pitching from 16 startups. From the sixteen startups, Klik-Eat receives Judges’ Choice Award.
Unlike last year that brought a People’s Choice Award, this year Satellite chose to give Judges’ Choice Award. This is done to provide a more in-depth suggestion to the startup participants. And finally, Klik-Eat, a startup that gives online food delivery service, was chosen because it was considered by the judges as a startup that best demonstrate its business potential and opportunities to get funding.
As reported by e27, every startup was given a 10 minutes time to pitch in front of judges panel consisting Sarim Aziz (RIM), Danny Wirianto (Mindtalk), Mohan Belani (e27), Simone Brunozzi (Amazon Web Services) and Kevin Mintaraga (Magnivate Group). Aside from Klik-Eat that won the award, KirimPaket also got a special appreciation from Simone Brunozzi because its stunning presentation on stage.
The Satellite event, that was held in conjunction with #StartupLokal second anniversary, also featured keynote speakers of Simone Brunozzi (AWS), Vinvent Lauria (Golden Gate Ventures), Sarim Aziz (RIM) and Brynerio (4id). In addition, there was also a panel discussion with the theme of how Indonesia could become the next technology development center.
Satellite Indonesia – Echelon 2012 is the first of six similar events held in 6 cities in Asia. The event is held to find best 50 startups in Asia, to be invited to do exhibition and pitching on Echelon 2012 event on June 11-12, 2012. Announcement of the best 50 startups will be done after the Echelon committee completed the series of Satellite events. After this, Satellite will be held at the Philippines (April 12), Singapore (April 14), Vietnam (April 17), Taiwan (April 24) and Japan (April 26-27).
